What it is
Capillary slab, not coating
OKALUX delivers diffused daylight through physical structure, not a printed or applied coating. A slab of fine plastic tubes plus a glass fiber tissue layer scatters incoming light uniformly. Views out are obscured (the surface reads as a luminous milky-white). Light transmission stays high and color-neutral.
Why the tissue layer
Glass fiber tissue tunes performance
The glass fiber tissue is what distinguishes OKALUX from KAPILUX. The tissue diffuses light, blocks UV, and tunes solar heat gain. Different tissue specifications produce SHGC values from 0.43 down to 0.14. Without the tissue (KAPILUX), partial through-vision is preserved at the cost of solar performance.
Sealed inside the IGU
Permanent, maintenance-free
The capillary slab and tissue sit inside the hermetically sealed cavity. No exterior shading device, no moving parts, no cleaning access required. The building face remains a single flush plane, with the daylighting performance built invisibly into the glass.
